The Streetsboro Parks &Recreation Department, which is in the process of seeking a name for a new 130-acre park along Route 303 west of the Target store, has whittled the list to four names.

Residents are invited to vote at the Streetsboro Parks & Recreation website for their favorite name.

The possible names are:

  •  "Thomas Heritage Park," which would be named after Osman Thomas, who operated the property as a farm in the 1920s;
  •  "Myers Heritage Park," which would be named after Stephen Myers, the first settler in Streetsboro;
  •  "Gateway Woodland Park," which would include a reference to Streetsboro's motto "Gateway to Progress, and "woodlands" as a recognition of the large amount of woods at the park; and
  • "Old Saw Mill Park," which would name the park after an old sawmill on the property.

The Streetsboro Parks, Recreation and Conservation Advisory Committee chose the final four from a list of 55 possible names submitted by residents.

Parks & Recreation Director Greg Mytinger said the online voting deadline is Nov. 9. He hopes to formally announce a name at the Nov. 26th City Council meeting

The City of Streetsboro would like to thank everyone who voted for the naming of Streetsboro's newest park.

The new "Thomas Heritage Park" will incorporate trails, fishing ponds, picnic areas, bird watching areas and more.
Look for these improvements in the upcoming months and years.
